Le Mans Models I would like to start a thread regarding Le Mans models. Though I collect F1, Ferrari, Lancia and Can Am; Le Mans is my passion. I have never been to the race but have been fascinated with it and the cars since I was 12 years old.
My goal is to have a model of every car ever raced at Le Mans 1923 - to date. I am lucky to have two friends in the UK that have been pursuing the same goal for over 30 years. One has all but 17 of the 3622 cars raced to date. To fullfill their goal they have spent countless hours researching cars that may only appear in poor black and white photos from one angle, modifying existing model bases with bondo and working with small cottage industry artisans to create obscure Le Mans cars we call gap fillers. I have been fortunate enough that my friends have willingly helped me and shared their records and research so that I may find the rare gems or at least know they exist somewhere out there for me to find on e bay, at swap meets or auto shows.
It is a great challenge, at times very rewarding or very frustrating (especially when I lose out on a rare Le Mans car on e bay). I consider my models works of art. Like my friends I am willing to share what I have learned with others that want to reach a Le Mans based collecting goal. So I start this thread and hope it will continue for years to come. I know my goal will take decades to reach but that is OK. I really don't know what I will do, other than gaze at my beauties, should I obtain them all.

Re:Lemans Cars That would be quite the collection to post pic's of. How many are you missing?
Lemans has also been a race of particular interest to me ever since I read the book "Americans At Lemans" when I was about 15. I've always wanted to go see it, but as of yet , haven't gotten the chance.
I did go to the '89 Daytona 24 Hours, and can only imagine what it must be like to walk all of the Lemans infield.
Good luck in your quest.

I just started to collect LeMans winners this past fall. It's a mighty steep slope...I can't imagine finding every car that has ever raced.

How many Le Mans Patrick:
At present in my 1:43 scale Le Mans collection 1923 - 2007 I have 2225 built and 317 kits.
I would love to take photos of my collection but unfortunately when we moved to my wife's new dream, she got a bigger kitchen, living room etc. and I lost my den and custom display cabinets. 99% of my collection is in boxes in a very large closet. I walk in and visit my models almost every day and stare at the storage boxes.
Some day soon??? I will build a new shop and hobby room.

Re:Lemans Cars After many years in boxes, my collection of Classic & Sports car magazines that goes back to "85 was finally released a couple years ago when we bought our first house. I feel your pain. After 2.5 years in the house, the man cave is almost complete. Just the bar to reconstruct.
Good luck! :P

storage boxes? Radical,
I had you pegged for having every one of your models displayed. That's gotta be killin' you......but also good motivation for you to get on that hobbyroom project.
Have a good weekend!

Spark Porsche 997 GT3 RSR Flying Lizard I'm still learning this posting of pics, so bear with me!!!! Hopefully, I'll be posting more than 1 picture of this fantastic model (probably Sparks' best effort to date). Thanks to Mark for convincing me to pre-order or I'd still be trying to get this beauty!

Well, I finally posted some pics, but that presentation looks a bit sloppy to me. Does anyone have any easy suggestions for cleaning up my last post? How do I delete url codes from the screen? Thanks for any and all help!!

LeMans Winners Wow! I thought that I was doing something, when I embarked upon getting all of the 1/43 LeMans winners from Replicarz (total of 76 winners; I need just 9 more), plus all the cars that raced in 1977 (the race that I attended with my wife).
My 1/43 collection of 1977 LeMans race cars now numbers 14 plus the winner, out of 55 starters. Only 40 more to go. Anybody out there with 1/43 duplicates of the 1977 racers?
You guys want to get ALL of the cars that ever raced at LeMans? And I thought I was crazy!

1977 Le Mans duplicates Tim I have the following duplicates from Le Mans 1977 in kit form:
#88, #26, #50, #2, #21, #14, #29, #41
#28 built by Endurance
#4 by Solido
I have 38 of the 55 starters.
The #87 was released by JPS as a kit but I have yet to find it. JPS has discontinued the kit. #41 was released by both Renaissance and Starter
as a kit but I have been able to find them either.
There are no announced future releases of LM 1977 cars by any mfr. kit or built.

Todd: Thanks for the reply. I'm not a kit builder, so I'm apparently going to miss getting many of the 1977 LeMans entrants.
That said, I already have the #28 Lola, just as it came out of the box.
However, the winning #4 Porsche by Solido that I purchased second hand some time ago is a little bit the worse for wear (decals damaged a bit).
What's the condition of yours, and are you willing to part with it, if it's in better shape than mine? Please e-mail me at the address below.
