Minichamps Blower Bentley... -W- Pics!
Here's some pics of the Minichamps Blower Bentley. Just for fun, I paired it with my Franklin Mint 1:24 scale. Much has been made of the Minichamps effort, and In my opinion it is a nice piece, but nowhere near as polished as Exoto's or CMC's offerings. This model has an abundance of plastic parts, and lacks the finer details and superior finish of Exoto & CMC. If minichamps wants to play in their league, they will have to do better than this. Don't get me wrong; it's a fine effort, and I love the 4 1/2, and who else is going to produce one? That said, I have come to expect more from a piece that set me back $235 >

Re: Bentley Critique
The things you pointed out are truly inexcusable in this price range. I only have one thing to say in Minichamps defense. When commenting on the difference between the "sheen" of the bonnet and the rest of the body, keep in mind that on the real cars, the body was made sometimes by a company called Weyman. They used a wood frame with a heavy fabric covering. When painted, it took on a different "sheen" than than hood. Minichamps may be trying to duplicate this difference. Vanden Plas did alot of the sporting Bentley bodies as well, copying the "Weyman" method of construction.

Nice little review (if you want to call it that.) Good comparisons. :D

You are correct Patrick
in your comment on the construction of Bentleys of this era. The problem is that the minichamps car looks like they tried to match the bonnet to the body, and didn't quite get it right. Furthermore, the bonnet looks plastic. Here's a pic I left out of the original post:
