Ken, how many really? Do you have a total number of models in your collection? C'mon, come clean. You're among fellow addicts......

Lots and lots! The computer I had everything cataloged on crashed about 10 years ago and at that time I was around 2000. Today it is anyones guess. If I had the time I'd start a new inventory. Most are Porsche and mostly Minichamps although there are hundreds of unbuilt Starter (and some other) kits. Nearly all are 1/43.
I started collecting for 3 reasons; 1) When my son was born in 1984, I used to go to Toys 'r Us to get diapers and they had some cheap metal models, mostly Porsches (I have been a Porsche nut since I was a little kid and rode in Speedsters in the 50's and spent lots of time at SCCA races in the 60's), 2) I went to the Porsche Museum a few times in the 80's and they had a great display of 1/43 models, many transkits and many regular kits not available in the US, and 3) I would go to the various car musuems and buy whatever models they had. Then, in the early 90's (1992 or 3)Max, later Minichamps, came along with the excellent AEG #63 C9 Sauber Mercedes (MAX 1000, the first, I think). I was hooked.
There were several good dealers at the time -- one Sherman Oaks and another in Canada, then a good one in Ohio, and finally Mark and Replicarz.

As part of my Le Mans collection 1923 - 2007 and beyond I am collecting every Porsche that raced.
I have a few Porsche road cars but this is not a major theme of my collection.
I am glad to see that Spark is grinding through all the Le Mans 956's and 962's. Allows me to dump my very old and very bad Onyx models and not have to build the Starter kits I have.

I'd like to see a 1:18 356 Abarth....

...Then realized I was in the 1:43 room. Sorry!

I've been thinking the same thing. The problem is the expense.

I'm not a huge Porsche guy, but I would love it if they made a white 1:18 1967 911 (my dad had one a long time ago.) I have the Spark 1:43, but bigger is better. :D

Don't think it's been made? I searched our database, the closest thing I see is a 1964 in 1:18 by CMC. They have not released it yet, July/August for delivery. This is the original (901) 911, not sure how much different the '67 is? I found this:

Classic 911 look will never go out of style, even when we all have little space ships to fly around in.

Looks like we could be neighbors! Where in Ky. are you? My collection is somewhat small, (220+ 1/43, 60+ Porsches) My newest are the Spark 2007 LeMans Flying Lizard, which is IMO the best Spark model to date and a Miniwerks Scala 43 Carrera RS which I got on ebay dirt cheap ($40.00+ ship.) Sorry, about the poor sentence structure! I am looking for display cabinets similar to yours. I really can't spend a lot, any ideas? Dave
Ken- 03-22-2008
The cabinets are HO scale train ones from a place in PA. They were about $175 each years ago. I tried to get a local cabinet guy to copy them but he wanted twice that without the glass. I found them in a model RR magazine.
Outside Lexington.

I'm already contemplating the CMC 901 (911). There isn't much difference between it and the '67, other than the wheels.

I have about 90 Porsches, a 50/50 split between race and road verisons. For a while a couple of years ago i was adding about 3 a month i just could not help myself.
all the lemans winners from about 79 onwards.
