Spark vs. IXO: quality difference? In addtion to CanAm I collect Ford GT40s-I would like to be able to have an entire collection of the first all the way to the last versions made, including the Lemans finned and spoiled versions before their winning cars and including the Jcar. Will this be possible in 1:43rd?
Are the IXO Gulf Gt40s comparible in quality on the level of Spark? Spark isn't perfect but in most cases I can correct the wire wheel knockoffs being off center and draw in the body panel lines myself.

Spark/IXO Hey Dave,
IXO is producing some great quality stuff these days, and for about 2/3 the price of Spark. But IMO Spark/Bizarre are setting the standard right now for the "under $50.00 ready built" 1:43 market.
In comparing the GT40's, they're close but I've give the edge to Spark.
I'm still waiting for a master list, supposedly Spark/Bizarre are getting info classic F1 and mega-more Sports Cars/Can-Am.
I'll keep you posted.

The 1967,68 & 69 versions by IXO are all excellent, as are the 1964 versions by Spark/Bizarre. The 1965 versions are currently only available as kits or factory builts by Marsh Models. 4 or 5 of the 1966 cars are available from Best, but the overall shape and decalling leave a little to be desired. IXO recently released the 1966 winner, and it is the best 1966 version to date. Hopefully, they will release other liveries from 1966 as well. The J car is only available as a kit by Saphire, and is very hard to come by. Eagle's Race, (Universal Hobby) has released some Daytona and Sebring versions. They're pretty good, but could use better tires.

I recently purchased my first Spark models; a Lotus 23 and a Lotus 19 and I'm very impressed with every detail. I'll be adding more to my collection for sure.

Thanks for the replies, Ric and Mark; guess i'll have to give up on a complete series of Gt40s that I've been dreaming about and stick with the CanAm Spark and Minichamps. With no 'long nose' Gt40 Mark IIs, or Jcars, the series would be incomplete--big opportuniy here that some Mfgr should be paying attention to!

down the road? Spark/Bizarre in the future is my prediction for all of those you mention.
Keep your fingers crossed.
