Mike, Do you have a link that explains rFactor a little more in depth? I found a few but rather confusing. Do you have to buy the different modes like the '79 classic F1 for example? I did download the full trial version. LMK Thanks Mark

Mark, RFactors' web site is www.rfactor.net. The main purpose of rFactor is to give a basic program to act as a template to implement mods. In general, once you pay for and download rFactor, you can download most of the mods for free. One of the best sites to download these mods is www.rfactorcentral.com. The only time that you may have to pay is if you join a league. Cybercupracing is $50.00 for the year, but the benefit is that CCR can turn people away and only have mature drivers that you can trust racing with you. In free leagues, you commonly get younger kids or those people that don't take it serious, which can be very aggrevating. I love downloading the different mods and just goofing around, but I like league racing the most. The 1979 F1 mod is really fun and can be downloaded at rfactorcentral.com. In addition, you can download almost any track and race anything on them. So if you wanted to race a Cup Car at Monza, you could. Let me know if you have any more ?'s. Mike

You should have ver. 1.255. Since you recently downloaded it, you should have the newest version. If you start the game and look at the screen with the car on the turn-table, you should see the version # at the bottom. If it's not 1.255, you can download the patch at rfactor.net I've been playing for two years and they have released two patches, the most recent was 1.255 in December. Mike BTW, what type of racing are you into?

I've got GTR2, and I love the updated physics, but I find myself going back to the original GTR, just because of all the tracks available for it. Their version of Virginia International is spot on, and allowed me to crash 100's of times virtually before risking my real car. Does anyone know if tracks for GTR will work with GTR2? I checked into rFactor and downloaded the demo, but when I looked, (at least a year ago), not many US tracks were available. Has that changed? Ric

Hey Ric, I never had GTR so I can't help you out there. I have gotten hooked on the RFactor '79 F1 module. It's very realistic but also rather difficult. If you even touch another car you pay the price, so if you do survive the contact most likley your car will now handle like $hit. How about an online race some night? Mark
